LOS ALAMITOS, Calif. October 2012-After 16 years of successful business in Anaheim, Blake's Place has recently opened its second location here. Owner Gene Hobel and Mike Rhodes, his partner at Los Alamitos, had been thinking of opening a new store and different areas were considered. "When we saw this place (formerly a fast food chicken vendor) was open, we jumped on it," Hobel says.


There are also barbeque sauces that are mustard-based. It was during the 18th century when this mustard sauce is said to have been used firstly by the German settlers. The sauce would usually include the yellow mustard, brown sugar vinegar with apple cider and lots o spices. Some mustard sauces also have molasses and honey. This sauce is used on the South Carolina's preferred pork meat. The pork is cooked over an open hardwood coal pit then the sauce is added before serving the grilled protein.


As I searched for what to try next, I was tempted by so many options. The festival featured barbecue styles from award-winning pitmasters. Ribs and tri tip to kabobs and sausage; of course, it was held in Santa Monica so vegetarian options were available, too. I took what I thought was a gamble and decided on Butch's Smack Your Lips BBQ from New Jersey. As I stood in line for my roast pulled beef slow cooker and coleslaw, I recognized the face on the bottles of sauce they were selling. Butch had been featured on Throwdown with Bobby Flay!





Sausages are relatively cheap compared to many kinds of meat. The best value for money can be had by buying high quality brands in bulk when they are on sale and storing extra packets in the freezer. Cooked sliced sausages add flavor and texture to stews casseroles frittatas pulled beef brisket and pasta dishes.


The other big daddy of smoking wood.if you're from Texas. This wood is the most powerful of all smoking wood. Mesquite has a very strong and robust flavor. Best used with beef and larger cuts of meat. Of course, it's often the choice for Texas beef brisket. Too much of this smoking wood will render your food inedible. Go light and mix it with other smoking wood until you get a better feel of mesquite's power. I may throw a chunk, or two onto my Thanksgiving turkey fire if I'm feeling a bit rebellious. A chip, or two on the grill adds a nice southwest flavor to a steak.just go easy!


At the courthouse, which has been recently remodeled, for example, you can view lots of wonderful art photography pieces by local physician F. Rollin Bland. These pieces of art are on display throughout the courthouse. Just across the south side of the roast beef brisket courthouse is the Mariee Wallace Historical Society Museum. Inside you will find antiques, and a host of historical items from local families from before the turn of the century. Mike and Jackie Coatney are the museum curators and they'll be more than happy to tell you about anything in the building. There is even a gift shop that sells such things as huckleberry jam, huckleberry syrup, a few Native American recipe items, and more.


I based my decision upon the reviews that I had read through a Google search. Out of the 73 reviews Russell Street Bar-B-Que received it was rated four and a half stars overall. I hadn't actually visited their website before we left the house but their website is very informative and includes a menu with pricing.
